DepEd Eastern Visayas received teaching and learning materials on inclusive education from Australia through the BEST Program at a handover ceremony in Biliran on 21 May 2018.

DepEd Region 8 led by Regional Director Ramir Uytico receives story books, manipulative toys, and multi-sensory items from BEST to be distributed to 125 schools in Biliran, and 70 schools in Baybay, Leyte.

The materials, which include story books, manipulative toys, and multi-sensory items, will be distributed to 125 schools in Biliran, and 70 schools in Baybay, Leyte.

BEST started working with school clusters in the divisions of Baybay and Biliran in 2016 to capture and document the existing inclusive education practices in their schools and communities.

“With these teaching and learning materials kits, teachers will be able to strengthen their teaching techniques by using these materials, as well, as in raising awareness about gender equality, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI) in schools,” said BEST Team Leader Kaye Cox at the turnover ceremony.

The materials were accepted by Biliran Division Superintendent Dr Pedro T. Escobarte, Baybay Division Superintendent Dr. Camela Tamayo and witnessed by DepEd Regional Director Dr. Ramir Uytico during the Brigada Eskwela DepEd 8 regional kick-off program.
